In this article, you will learn how to create a WCF Rest service in C# ASP.Net step-by-step with an example. REST stands for Representational state transfer which is a technique to communicate on cross-platform application and exchange the data in JSON & XML format.
Now let’s get started with creating a rest wcf service in the c# asp.net application. Follow the below steps:
Step 1: Create New Project and select WCF Service Application as shown below in the screenshot:-
Step 2: Preparing the data to return
Step 3: Add a Service Contract
Step 4: Implementing REST Service
Step 5: Configure Service and Behavior
In this blog post, you will learn how to consume the WCF REST service in the C# ASP.Net web application. Previously I have explained how to create WCF REST Service in C# and Exception Handling in WCF using Fault Contract . You can follow the below steps to calling WCF rest service:-
#how to #wcf rest service #calling wcf rest service c# #consume wcf rest service c# json #consume wcf rest service c# xml
In this article, you will learn how to create a WCF Rest service in C## ASP.Net step-by-step with an example. REST stands for Representational state transfer which is a technique to communicate on cross-platform application and exchange the data in JSON & XML format.
Let’s understand the HTTP methods which is most commonly used to create a WCF REST service:
I hope you got an idea of the REST concept. For more in detail refer to HTTP Request Methods

The REST acronym is defined as a “REpresentational State Transfer” and is designed to take advantage of existing HTTP protocols when used for Web APIs. It is very flexible in that it is not tied to resources or methods and has the ability to handle different calls and data formats. Because REST API is not constrained to an XML format like SOAP, it can return multiple other formats depending on what is needed. If a service adheres to this style, it is considered a “RESTful” application. REST allows components to access and manage functions within another application.
REST was initially defined in a dissertation by Roy Fielding’s twenty years ago. He proposed these standards as an alternative to SOAP (The Simple Object Access Protocol is a simple standard for accessing objects and exchanging structured messages within a distributed computing environment). REST (or RESTful) defines the general rules used to regulate the interactions between web apps utilizing the HTTP protocol for CRUD (create, retrieve, update, delete) operations.
An API (or Application Programming Interface) provides a method of interaction between two systems.
A RESTful API (or application program interface) uses HTTP requests to GET, PUT, POST, and DELETE data following the REST standards. This allows two pieces of software to communicate with each other. In essence, REST API is a set of remote calls using standard methods to return data in a specific format.
The systems that interact in this manner can be very different. Each app may use a unique programming language, operating system, database, etc. So, how do we create a system that can easily communicate and understand other apps?? This is where the Rest API is used as an interaction system.
When using a RESTful API, we should determine in advance what resources we want to expose to the outside world. Typically, the RESTful API service is implemented, keeping the following ideas in mind:
The features of the REST API design style state:
For REST to fit this model, we must adhere to the following rules:

C and C++ are the most powerful programming language in the world. Most of the super fast and complex libraries and algorithms are written in C or C++. Most powerful Kernel programs are also written in C. So, there is no way to skip it.
In programming competitions, most programmers prefer to write code in C or C++. Tourist is considered the worlds top programming contestant of all ages who write code in C++.
During programming competitions, programmers prefer to use a lightweight editor to focus on coding and algorithm designing. Vim, Sublime Text, and Notepad++ are the most common editors for us. Apart from the competition, many software developers and professionals love to use Sublime Text just because of its flexibility.
I have discussed the steps we need to complete in this blog post before running a C/C++ code in Sublime Text. We will take the inputs from an input file and print outputs to an output file without using
freopen file related functions in C/C++.
