In this video, EKS Add User VS. Role we’re going to talk about adding users and roles to EKS Cluster. It may look like it’s a very similar task but let me explain what would be the biggest difference. Unfortunately, EKS does not support adding IAM groups, which means whenever you need to add a new user you have to update Kubernete’s configmap every time. On the other hand, you can create a role or multiple roles with different access to the cluster and let new users use to assume that role. It will behave similarly to the group in some sense. It is a more flexible way of managing users and lets you modify the Kubernetes config map only once.
