If the number of inversions is odd, we multiply the value for -1, if it’s even we keep the sign. To express this mathematically, we do it like:

Now we got everything to calculate the determinant, it’s as simple as multiplicating the sign formula just above by the product of the elements and repeat it since there are no more possible combinations:
