Here is everything I’ve made as a software engineer so far

Ask somebody what their salary is these days and you’ll probably get dirty looks and an uncomfortable grin. And you probably won’t get the answer to your question.

Ask me however and you’ll get an article with an entire breakdown that spans almost a decade.

And that’s mainly because I hear about way too many people getting into the programming and web development field with the only goal being that sweet 6-figure paycheck at the end.

Not that you can’t or won’t earn 6-figures. It’s just that day 1 of your Jr. Programmer job probably won’t warrant $100,000. Probably. Maybe not even year 5 or 6. But maybe at year 8 or 9.

But more realistically, I myself have only met a handful of developers that have topped the 6-figure mark. And they worked for very large and well-known companies with enormous budgets.

So, in the name of transparency and to further open dialog about what we are all really making for our skills, here is a breakdown of all of my salaries working in corporate environments spanning almost a decade in various programming fields.

Note that this is only corporate work and does not reflect any contractual or freelancing work that I do these days.
