How to Create a Google Data Studio Dashboard in 5 Minutes

How to create a Google Data Studio dashboard in 5 minutes from a Data Scientist. A data scientist’s approach to expert visualizations. In the next five minutes, you'll learn how to set up an automatically updating Google Data Studio report with all your top-line KPIs in.

Google Data Studio is an easy-to-use tool that can be used by anyone with an internet connection and computer, but is especially useful for Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists. The goal of this article is to give you an introduction to creating a Google Data Studio dashboard. This tool is beneficial for describing data visually by means of interactive charts and tables. A lot of the problems in business stem from improper communication, including from engineers to product managers to data scientists. Findings and results can be difficult to relay out to others. This tool can help solve those issues by presenting data in an easy viewing format. Below, I will discuss some simple steps to help you create a simple, yet effective dashboard.

Connect Your Data

The first step is to obtain your data. If you want to follow along but don’t have your data yet, you can create some dummy data in Google Sheets rather quickly by naming some columns and assigning some values in rows, and connect to that instead (I will be using dummy data). The screenshot provided below shows how you can connect to 18 sources, but I chose to show Google Sheets, as it is a popular and easy tool for compiling data.

You will most likely then be greeted by your editing version of your dashboard that will automatically display a table of your data. I have several fields, including some that are numeric and some that are text (denoted by a 123, and ABC, respectively).
