Exploring the concept of Migration to Container — Anthos Migrate — G

Hi everyone, this time I am exploring a concept on how I can move my existing VM to a container. Just a quick note, I think modernization is a good way to move towards containers/microservices as we can leverage more of the features of Kubernetes and gain speed through CI/CD, etc. However, there are some points where we may want to move our monolithic apps / VM just to lift-and-shift into a container then run it where ever we want to. That's the idea of the portability of containers.

I think we are moving towards cloud and containers being the new normal, and most of the Dev people I’ve met already have know or even expert on containers. We can have a good foundation by creating a proper CI/CD and development process, and we may start from:

the most simple way through manual docker image creation

So here I want to explore a basic feature from the service called Anthos Migrate in GCP. Where by utilizing this service I can do move my VM into container images which allows me not to create from scratch but move my images and/or with data to a container image.
