Angular developers often adopt the container-presenter or smart-dumb to talk about components. Is a plain simple way to talk about dependencies and how components communicate with each other but lacks detail about the UI.

The concept of dumb component can be anything from a buttom to a layout. The atomic design complements the definition, by giving detailed information about the UI structure and relationships.

Atoms & Molecules — Dumb components

They are simple, reusable, and easy to test pieces of code. They both receive @Input and can emit @Ouput. The perfect candidates for UI libraries.

• Atoms: The smallest unit possible, reused all over the place. Normally a single HTML element with basic styling.
• Molecules: A single group of atoms.

Organisms & templates — Simplifying smart components

In terms of reducing smart components complexity, templates help reducing the HTML boilerplate, and organisms their typescript counterpart.

In my experience leading projects, I found that while these two are keys for app scalability and team performance, they are also rarely seen.

And this is due to temporality. When we initially design a complex smart component, we do it as a whole. We create the full page by slowly adding small chunks. And all of a sudden, a smart component can easily grow up to 500 lines of ts, and close to 1K of HTML-CSS, becoming a mud pool where every step is harder to take than the previous. Even if the logic is simple, the length of the file makes it hard to maintain.

Templates and organisms can help reduce the noise, and keep the code structured and ready to scale. It will be easier to recognize and reuse the pieces of code in future similar-looking features.

1. Module

Angular is a modular platform and it may contain one or more Angular Module or NgModules depending on the demand. It is the essential module that is always present is the Root module namely “AppModule” in the application.

NgModule is a Decorator function that handles the compilation part of the application. It works in synergy with other modules. It takes a single object in the form of Metadata. NgModule communicates with other modules for bootstrapping them and works in the Parent-Child relationship for the proper execution of the application.

Install Angular - Angular Environment Setup Process

Install Angular in Easy Steps

For Installing Angular on your Machine, there are 2 prerequisites:

• Node.js
• npm Package Manager

Node.js

First you need to have Node.js installed as Angular require current, active LTS or maintenance LTS version of Node.js

Download and Install Node.js version suitable for your machine’s operating system.

Npm Package Manager

Angular, Angular CLI and Angular applications are dependent on npm packages. By installing Node.js, you have automatically installed the npm Package manager which will be the base for installing angular in your system. To check the presence of npm client and Angular version check of npm client, run this command:

1. npm -v

Installing Angular CLI

• Open Terminal/Command Prompt
• To install Angular CLI, run the below command:

1. npm install -g @angular/cli

· After executing the command, Angular CLI will get installed within some time. You can check it using the following command

1. ng --version

Workspace Creation

Now as your Angular CLI is installed, you need to create a workspace to work upon your application. Methods for it are:

• Using CLI
• Using Visual Studio Code

1. Using CLI

To create a workspace:

• Navigate to the desired directory where you want to create your workspace using cd command in the Terminal/Command prompt
• Then in the directory write this command on your terminal and provide the name of the app which you want to create. In my case I have mentioned DataFlair:

1. Ng new YourAppName

• After running this command, it will prompt you to select from various options about the CSS and other functionalities.

• To leave everything to default, simply press the Enter or the Return key.
