Intro to Figma UI Kits - Figma Tutorial For Beginners with Free UI Kit

In this Figma tutorial for beginners, you’ll learn how to use Figma UI Kits to help you bring design app ideas to life faster. Join Billy Sweetman, Design Lead at Headway, to learn more about how you can use Shipwright - our fully-editable and free UI Kit created in Figma, and ways to add UI Kits to your next project.

UI kits, or user interface kits, help you improve your design workflow. They also encourage recycling components instead of creating new ones from scratch. They’re commonly used for mobile design or prototyping, largely because two of the biggest operating systems—iOS and Android—both have robust, well documented, and heavily supported design systems. (Note that design systems and UI kits often go hand-in-hand.

A design system relates to both the code components and UI design, while a UI kit refers to the designer’s version of the design system. A UI kit can stand alone without any relation to a larger design system.

Figma design kit built to integrate with Tailwind CSS

Hey everyone ✌🏻

Together with my friend, we developed a design kit in Figma specifically to be integrated with Tailwind CSS, a trending new utility first CSS framework.

You can check out and duplicate the project from the Figma community.

It’s open source 💙

Data Visualization in R with ggplot2: A Beginner Tutorial

A famous general is thought to have said, “A good sketch is better than a long speech.” That advice may have come from the battlefield, but it’s applicable in lots of other areas — including data science. “Sketching” out our data by visualizing it using ggplot2 in R is more impactful than simply describing the trends we find.

This is why we visualize data. We visualize data because it’s easier to learn from something that we can see rather than read. And thankfully for data analysts and data scientists who use R, there’s a tidyverse package called ggplot2 that makes data visualization a snap!

In this blog post, we’ll learn how to take some data and produce a visualization using R. To work through it, it’s best if you already have an understanding of R programming syntax, but you don’t need to be an expert or have any prior experience working with ggplot2
