Tmux (Terminal Multiplexer) is a handy tool that allows you to open multiple windows in a single terminal window. It also allows keeping track of sessions/window terminals and manages them by going back and forth through different session number/name. The session can be terminated at any time you want. Tmux is a great tool if you are working with multiple terminal windows and want to see all of your work under one window. This writeup is based on the TMUX room on TryHackMe and goes through the number of shortcuts that can be used while using TMUX for multiple terminal window management and tracking
P.S: You can use the cheat sheet of TMUX in order to solve the challenges in the room. At first, you might get overwhelmed but don’t worry with practice you would definitely get hold of these shortcuts
Getting acquainted with the TMUX and its shortcuts in order to navigate through different terminal windows, making new session windows, detaching from them, etc
First thing first, we need to install TMUX on our OS. You can install it on any Linux distro you want to. I usually work in Kali Linux so I would be installing it on this.
Use apt-get install tmux
Now that we have installed tmux , let’s launch it. The command is pretty simple and you would most likely find the command in the cheat sheet. As soon as you write tmux in the terminal and press enter you will notice a blue bar at the bottom of your terminal as shown.
Task 3 through 10 are related to the commands. You can refer to the cheat sheet until you become comfortable in using the commands without looking at any reference material
All the tmux command start with a keyboard button i.e control. You will see that the ctrl key is pressed every time a shortcut is used. Another key that is necessary to be used with ctrl is “b”. You must note that these keys should be pressed every time as a prefix to other shortcuts that we would go through in the upcoming challenges.
When we want to detach a session like the one we created before using **tmux we would simply press ctrl+b D **and this would exit the current tmux session with a small prompt that tmux has been exited.
If we want to list all our tmux sessions we would use tmux ls in order to see all the sessions as shown below
Here the session name is denoted by a number that is to the left. There could be a name of the session too if we create a tmux session using a name, if not then by default it is assigned a number. In order to interact with a specific session we would use tmux a -t 0(Session name)
In order to make a new window in this session, we will use ctrl + b C
So now that we have a lot of interaction with session and windows lets make this to use and fill in some information
Let’s scan the target machine with Nmap using the flags as seen below
As we can see from the above output there is a lot of information to store and it won’t fit in one screen for that we would use ctrl + [. Doing so will allow us to scroll through the screen using the arrow keys. Notice a highlighted section on the top right corner which shows the number that indicates that you can scroll up and down.
If we want to go to the top of the page we could use **g **with a combination of ctrl + that is used with every shortcut in tmux. Similarly, if we want to navigate to the bottom we press **G. **In order to leave the copy mode we would simple press q
What if I was working with multiple windows and wanted to split the window so that I could open fewer window terminals at a time. In that case I would use ctrl + b % in order to split the screen vertically as shown below
ctrl + % splits the screen vertically
What if I wanted to split the screen horizontally, I would use “ with the essential combination
ctrl + “ splits the screen horizontally
Lets us play around with these windows a bit, so in order to navigate between these split-screens use ctrl + arrows keys. In order to resize these screens press and hold the combo keys and arrow keys. In order to kill a pane after t we no longer require it we would use **X **in combination with the combo key. Use exit in order to terminate a session.
In order to get a session named neat as asked in the task, use** tmux new -s neat.**

Giving your novel a strong sense of place is vital to doing your part to engage the readers without confusing or frustrating them. Setting is a big part of this (though not the whole enchilada — there is also social context and historic period), and I often find writing students and consulting clients erring on one of two extremes.
**Either: **Every scene is set in a different, elaborately-described place from the last. This leads to confusion (and possibly exhaustion and impatience) for the reader, because they have no sense of what they need to actually pay attention to for later and what’s just…there. Are the details of that forest in chapter 2 important? Will I ever be back in this castle again? Is there a reason for this character to be in this particular room versus the one she was in the last time I saw her? Who knows!
Or: There are few or no clues at all as to where the characters are in a scene. What’s in the room? Are they even in a room? Are there other people in th — ope, yes, there are, someone just materialized, what is happening? This all leads to the dreaded “brains in jars” syndrome. That is, characters are only their thoughts and words, with no grounding in the space-time continuum. No one seems to be in a place, in a body, at a time of day.
Everything aspect of writing a novel comes with its difficulties, and there are a lot of moving pieces to manage and deploy in the right balance. When you’re a newer writer, especially, there’s something to be said for keeping things simple until you have a handle on how to manage the arc and scope of a novel-length work. And whether you tend to overdo settings or underdo them, you can learn something from TV, especially classic sitcoms.
Your basic “live studio audience” sitcoms are performed and filmed on sets built inside studios vs. on location. This helps keep production expenses in check and helps the viewer feel at home — there’s a reliable and familiar container to hold the story of any given episode. The writers on the show don’t have to reinvent the wheel with every script.
Often, a show will have no more than two or three basic sets that are used episode to episode, and then a few other easily-understood sets (characters’ workplaces, restaurants, streets scenes) are also used regularly but not every episode.

Developing a mobile application can often be more challenging than it seems at first glance. Whether you’re a developer, UI designer, project lead or CEO of a mobile-based startup, writing good project briefs prior to development is pivotal. According to Tech Jury, 87% of smartphone users spend time exclusively on mobile apps, with 18-24-year-olds spending 66% of total digital time on mobile apps. Of that, 89% of the time is spent on just 18 apps depending on individual users’ preferences, making proper app planning crucial for success.
Today’s audiences know what they want and don’t want in their mobile apps, encouraging teams to carefully write their project plans before they approach development. But how do you properly write a mobile app development brief without sacrificing your vision and staying within the initial budget? Why should you do so in the first place? Let’s discuss that and more in greater detail.
It’s worth discussing the significance of mobile app project briefs before we tackle the writing process itself. In practice, a project brief is used as a reference tool for developers to remain focused on the client’s deliverables. Approaching the development process without written and approved documentation can lead to drastic, last-minute changes, misunderstanding, as well as a loss of resources and brand reputation.
For example, developing a mobile app that filters restaurants based on food type, such as Happy Cow, means that developers should stay focused on it. Knowing that such and such features, UI elements, and API are necessary will help team members collaborate better in order to meet certain expectations. Whether you develop an app under your brand’s banner or outsource coding and design services to would-be clients, briefs can provide you with several benefits:
Depending on how “open” your project is to the public, you will want to write a detailed section about who the developers are. Elements such as company name, address, project lead, project title, as well as contact information, should be included in this introductory segment. Regardless of whether you build an in-house app or outsource developers to a client, this section is used for easy document storage and access.

“The strongest ideas in the world are lost if the audience can’t get visually past your packaging.”
This is a fundamental rule in a speaker development course I teach several times per year. You may have strong ideas that could change how we think about things, but if the audience has shut you out early because of how you dress, speak, move, or weaknesses in your slides, that idea will never be heard.
The speaker has to master professional packaging before the words are ever communicated to an audience that wants to hear you, but can’t get past the barriers you have given us to overcome.
The same is true in writing. Good ideas wallow in oblivion if the reader can’t get past the first glance. There is always truth in the old adages, and this one directly applies to your writing and chances of getting read:
The writer only gets one chance to make a strong first impression
Your reader enters the game dazed and confused. He or she is overwhelmed, over stimulated and suffers from too much input of everything. How do you penetrate a mind already filled for the day and can barely comprehend one more external stimulation?
In the 1970s, your grandparents had a simpler life. You woke up, maybe listened to the radio at breakfast, worked the day away, then came home and read the evening paper while watching the evening news on a giant box of a television.
