Yes, despite the fact that Facebook had created Cassandra, a scalable NoSQL store now managed by Datastax, the social media giant is still using the veritable MySQL traditional relational database to store Petabytes of valuable user information, according to the post’s authors, Facebook Production Engineering Manager Pradeep Nayak and Facebook Software Engineer Herman Lee. It has thus far taken a company nearly a year to migrate to MySQL 8.0 from 5.6, which was first released in 2013, and support for which ends this year. Oracle rolled out MySQL 8.0 in 2018.

Allow Your Users to Login to your ASP.NET Core App Through Facebook

We show you how to authorise a user in your ASP.NET Core application by logging in through their Facebook account.

Integrating Facebook has many benefits including:

• Being able to capture personal details from a users Facebook account, such as name and email
• Users not having to fill out another form to sign up for something

We start off with creating a Facebook app, and set up Facebook login. A Facebook app is important as this will grant authorisation between Facebook and your ASP.NET Core app.

The Facebook app will generate an App Id and an App Secret. Using this, alongside the Microsoft.AspNetCore.Authentication.Facebook NuGet package, it will help us set up our integration with Facebook very quickly.

In Visual Studio 2019, we setup a sample ASP.NET Core MVC application to integrate Facebook authentication. We set up pages in our application that require authentication.

In addition, we also set up a login page that is used to redirect the user to Facebook to allow them to log in.

Finally, once the user has authorised successfully with Facebook, it redirects the user back to the ASP.NET Core application, and we output the personal data we have retrieved from Facebook.

Why oneday My Facebook Chatbot Doesn't Work, But It Used to Work Before?

In this video, I'm going to fix my 'tech shop' Messenger Bot. It used to work, but today, one of my friends tells me that the bot doesn't work anymore. After checking the logs of this chatbot, I figured out the problem: somehow Facebook updated their session, so I need to update the Facebook Page Access Token on the Developer page (the page manages the Facebook App).
I created a new Page Access Token, then updated the configuration on Heroku, and the problem is solved.

What can this bot do:
- Showing categories
- Looking up order (with a custom web view from node.js server)
- Talking with "real" live agent (if the user request)
- Turn on/off the bot
- Restart the conversation.

Backend: Express framework.
Frontend: EJS view engine, HTML, CSS
