Preface

If you are a student in a data science-related field(e.g. BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, Statistics, etc.) like me, have you ever wondered: What you will do in the future? What skills are now valued in the job market? Last but most importantly, how should you prepare yourself?

After these questions popped up in my mind, I’ve decided to put “how I should deal with it” into answers (and words). This article is written approximately 3–4 months before I started graduate school at CMU. All of the job posts displayed in this article are from Linkedin and are only examples that I think may fit each category. Looking into data science jobs will not only inform you of the skills that are on-demand but also help shape the right path to prepare your future career beforehand.
