In this week’s real-time analytics news: Multiple IBM partnerships with end-user companies to speed digital transformation and more.

Keeping pace with news and developments in the real-time analytics market can be a daunting task. We want to help by providing a summary of some of the items our staff came across each week. Here is a short list of some news from this week:

IBM and Delta Air Lines announced a multi-year agreement under which IBM will help lead Delta to the public cloud to increase its agility, speed to market, and innovation capabilities around digital transformation. As part of the expanded relationship, IBM will provide technology and industry expertise to modernize and migrate Delta’s applications to the public cloud. IBM will transform Delta’s computing environment to run on a hybrid cloud architecture built on Red Hat OpenShift. IBM will work with Delta to use the IBM Garage Methodology and IBM hybrid cloud software, such as CloudPaks, to modernize existing applications and co-create new solutions. This will help Delta drive greater software engineering productivity and result in an enhanced customer experience in the future.

IBM and Delta have a longstanding history of collaboration on transformative projects that have led to innovations for Delta and the airline industry. In early 2020, the companies announced a multi-year collaborative effort via the IBM Q Network to explore the potential capabilities of quantum computing to transform experiences for airline customers and employees.

In another IBM partnership, CitiusTech announced a collaboration with IBM to leverage IBM Cloud Paks to power its FAST+ solution, an end-to-end FHIR-based solution that provides healthcare organizations a platform for consent management and connects disparate systems to enable real-time data access. Operating FAST+ on IBM Cloud Paks helps healthcare organizations leverage a robust, cloud-native foundation and container-based architecture to scale FHIR transformation. By leveraging the flexibility, security, and portability of IBM Cloud Packs, CitiusTech can help clients in the highly regulated healthcare industry modernize operations in any cloud environment.

Bearing exited stealth mode and launched an AI-driven operations optimization platform, which provides a wide range of actionable insights to shipping companies. The solution aims to improve efficiency and safety and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Bearing’s platform is powered by ship performance models built on real-world data, allowing it to predict fuel consumption, speed, and other performance factors much more accurately than existing solutions on the market. Core to Bearing’s technology is a platform that ingests data from various sources, including ship sensors, satellite positioning, and weather data. Bearing combines this data with deep learning technologies to build hyper-accurate models that predict vessel performance in a wide range of operating conditions, from storms to calm water. These models serve as the foundation for a range of products, including a smart engine routing application and performance analysis dashboard.
