Remember those Windows 7 gadgets that everyone used to love? Speaking for myself, I have only good memories of them. Back then it made you feel like you could make your desktop personal.

But let’s take a proper look at that floating clock I used to love(but not more than the CPU meter). It’s not the prettiest by today’s standards and functionality wise, the feature of having it float on top of the desktop icons does not provide much value. A well designed wallpaper clock has the potential of beating the Win 7 gadget clock in these two aspects.

In my toolbox I have Node.js, the Javascript server side runtime. Now a mature powerhouse that can solve most programming tasks you can imagine.
