The greatest misconception these days about programming is that your code needs to be 100% clean to be successful. When I started out in the programming industry many years ago, I believed that if my code was readable and clean, I wouldn’t need any help from anyone to become a popular programmer sooner or later. Until I realized I was totally wrong.
To help other programmers avoid the mindset that I had at the beginning of my programming career, I decided to write about what competencies you should have and develop to be a successful programmer.
1. Analytical thinking
2. Accuracy and diligence
3. Self-organization and control over time
4. Soft skills
5. Teamwork
6. Perseverance
