Easily operate your highly available microservices on a Kubernetes cluster and run in your own Amazon Web Services (AWS) account.

The Challenge

An organization has been successfully operating one or more monolith web applications and is exploring moving to a microservice architecture. Having done their research, they know that the relevant popular technology components are:

  • The Cloud: Running one’s infrastructure on a cloud provider such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
  • Kubernetes: An open-source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications
  • Containers: A standard unit of software that packages up code and all its dependencies so the application runs quickly and reliably from one computing environment to another.
  • Terraform: Using infrastructure as code to provision and manage any cloud, infrastructure, or service.

The challenge is that each of these technologies comes with its own steep learning curve; having their infrastructure team learn all four at once is particularly challenging.

The organization understands that, in the long term, their infrastructure team needs to master these technologies but in the short term they want to quickly bring up a microservice architecture solution.
