It has also improved its fortune 500 ranking with the best one being 197 in 2019 which was an improvement of 64 ranks from previous year.

**But **in this article we wont talk about how Netflix improved its ranking or how it became the most popular online streaming platform available or how it is publishing new series every year. This article is about Netflix’s contribution towards open source environment.

When Netflix was first created, it created its application in a monolithic architecture. Later on, when it grew exponentially, it had to cater for exponential growth, scalability, efficiency and performance. To do that, it moved its architecture into microservices architectural framework. In doing so, it published open source projects and contributed towards open source community. Some of these projects are discussed below.

In other words, open source software are free to use and its source code can be used for making any changes or amendments as per your needs. Netflix has also created open source software for creating microservices application when it was transiting from monolithic application to microservices. These software can be used by anyone who wants to create a microservices application for their business.
