The cloud. It helps power modern-day business. It provides scalability and reduces technology costs. And it sounds so damn majestic… But what is it?

In the simplest terms, a “cloud” is just a bunch of computers. These computers can do what all computers do — store things and compute things.

However, they are different in two ways:

1. They are more sophisticated and specialized. They are typically less prone to errors, higher quality and configured for specific tasks. We call them “servers.”
2. They are connected with one another via the internet. That means they can work together to store and compute things.
