Coding, Maths, Probability, Databases and Statistics
Somewhat of a mouthful this one, but it is a bit more of a catchall. To be effective as a data scientist you will need to know something in all those areas. Most data is in databases and knowing how to code will let you access it. Then math, probability and statistics helps you to make sense of it, but also to evaluate if your final machine learning algorithm is actually any good.
