What is Toshimon?
Toshimon is a browser-based online battling game that requires the use of non-fungible tokens on the Ethereum platform to act as immutable in-game assets. Players connect their Ethereum wallets to the Toshimon website using Metamask, and assemble a team of five Toshimon to take on their opponents. There are 14 types of Toshimon, and each type has different strengths and weaknesses. It is up to you to decide how to best assemble your team to be prepared for any challenger.
Once you have your team assembled, you can battle your Toshimon in the turn-based Toshimon Arena. Each player takes turns attacking the other player using their team of Toshimon. The winner is the last player standing. After you become confident in your skills, you can choose to put Ethereum on the line using our peer-to-peer wagering system. This provides a fun and competitive way to showcase your skills, and also supports the secondary NFT market. If you need to assemble a stronger team, you can always purchase the Toshimon cards you need from secondary markets such as OpenSea and Rarible.
Types of Toshimon Cards:

There are 151 Toshimon in the First Generation, but there are also in-game items, Toshimon Move Modules (TMMs), and wearable cosmetics. There are different rarities for each type of card, with some being much more rare than others. In-game items are essential to gameplay, and include healing potions, stat boosting potions, and more.
Items exhaust a turn when used, and some items have a cooldown before they can be used again. You might want to have multiple copies of the same item so you don’t have to wait for the cooldown. Toshimon Move Modules are training cards that allow you to teach a Toshimon a new move. Each Toshimon can learn a maximum of four moves at a time. TMMs are only teachable to certain compatible Toshimon, and have a lengthy cooldown. They can be very useful for balancing your team, and some TMMs are more rare and powerful than others. Finally, cosmetic items are used to change the appearance of your character and Toshimon in-game. These items range from clothing to cosmetic stat cards and avatars. Some of them are exceptionally rare!
Toshimon cards are minted by the Toshimon smart contract randomly according to a fixed rarity issuance chance. Each Toshimon has a different designated rarity, and some have an extra rare Secret version. Toshimon are also randomly assigned a demeanor. Demeanors raise one base stat by 10 points, shown on the card as a golden box around the affected stat. Since demeanors are randomly assigned, some extremely rare (e.g. Legendary) Toshimon may have few instances of certain demeanors. Depending on your use for the Toshimon, some demeanors may be better than others!
Toshimon Gameplay
Toshimon is played in browser and able to be run by most devices. The gameplay is similar to other turn-based monster fighting games, such as Pokemon Stadium and Yu-Gi-Oh. Toshimon gameplay focuses on the battling aspect, with two trainers going head-to-head. Before battle, each trainer chooses five Toshimon for their team and any items they may want to bring. The trainers then send out one Toshimon each and begin battling by selecting one of up to three moves that their Toshimon have learned. Once any Toshimon’s HP is reduced to 0, it is removed from battle. The last trainer standing wins.
Toshi tokenomics
There are two native tokens used by Toshimon. TOSHI is the governance token, and will be used for voting in the Toshimon DAO upon launch. ToshiCoin is a utility token that is used to buy First Generation Toshimon card packs. In order to get your hands on First Generation Toshimon card packs, you need to first acquire ToshiCoin.
There are two ways to acquire ToshiCoin:
- Trade in TOSHI for ToshiCoin at a rate of 1 ToshiCoin per 2 TOSHI
- Stake TOSHI/ETH LP Tokens to get ToshiCoin
Anyone can stake their TOSHI/ETH Uniswap LP tokens to receive additional rewards. Snapshots of staked LP tokens will be taken randomly, and any users staking LP tokens at the time will receive exclusive rare Toshimon cards and variations. These exclusive cards will be limited run, exceedingly rare, and will provide no competitive advantage in game.
Once you have obtained ToshiCoin, you will be able to purchase Toshimon Card Packs via the Toshimon Dojo on the website or via its corresponding smart contract.
Currently, 40% of the total TOSHI supply has been airdropped to early supporters of our platform. Another 40% will be dropped pro-rata to users of the Toshimon Dojo, prior to the Beta launch of the Toshimon Arena. This 40% will be locked up for 45 days via smart contract, and distributed on the 45th day when it unlocks.

TOSHI Dynamics:
TOSHI is an ERC-20 token that will be minted with a 100,000 TOSHI supply hard-cap. No additional TOSHI will ever be minted. Upon creation of TOSHI, 80% of the supply will be fairly distributed through a public airdrop and Dojo rewards lockup program as outlined above. The rest will be allocated to the TOSHI developer’s trust and used to support the development of the game and protocol.
Once the TOSHI Community DAO launches, TOSHI will be used for governance of the Toshimon ecosystem. The TOSHI Community DAO will receive a percentage of Toshimon profits, and will be able to vote on how to allocate the funds, decide game balancing changes, and many other things.
ToshiCoin Dynamics:
ToshiCoin is the token that allows you to purchase First Generation Toshimon card packs. Each ToshiCoin can be exchanged for a pack of 10 Toshimon cards. The supply of Toshicoin is limited by the number of TOSHI exchanged summed with the daily TOSHI/ETH LP ToshiCoin issuance rate. Once the Toshimon Arena launches, ToshiCoin will be used for discounts and purchases of in-game items such as cosmetics, items, and Toshimon Cards.
Prior to the launch of the Toshimon Arena, ToshiCoin will remain untradeable between players. This is subject to change through a DAO governance vote in the future, after the Toshimon Arena has been launched.
TOSHI/ETH LP Staking Rewards Schedule:
There are increased incentives for TOSHI/ETH LP token stakers during the Early Access period. The reward tiers below start on the day TOSHI/ETH LP token staking launches.
Daily pro-rata distribution:
Day 1–10: 3,000 ToshiCoin total
Day 11–20: 2,000 ToshiCoin total
Day 21 until Toshimon Arena launch: 1,000 ToshiCoin total

The Toshimon DAO is intended to give the community governance over important aspects of the eco-system, including revenue-split and game rules.
Phase 5: Toshimon Colosseum Launches
Once the Toshimon DAO has been set up and the Toshimon Arena is out of Beta testing, the Toshimon Colosseum will be launched, unlocking wager battles between players.
